DeGiorgi, Leonard Joseph - February 18, 2018


Leonard Joseph DeGiorgi, 87, of Kensington, passed away late Sunday (February 18, 2018) at home. Born in Torrington, the son of the late Batista and the late Josephine (Jankowski) DeGiorgi, he was in the US Army ROTC at the University of Connecticut, and graduated in the class of 1952 where he belonged to the Phi Tau Etta Fraternity, and played the trumpet in the college marching band and symphony orchestra, worked for many years in sales of medical supplies, supporting local hospitals in the central Connecticut area where he managed medical sales for the eastern region for Litton Industries.† He then went to work for the US Defense Logistics Agency from 1982 till his retirement in 1998.†He was a member of St. Paulís Church, and enjoyed many family vacations on Marthaís Vineyard in the summer, along with trips to Bermuda with his wife.† His favorite sport was watching all of the UCONN womenís basketball games! He is survived by his wife Dorothy (Blaschik) DeGiorgi with whom he was married for over 64 years, his daughters, Deborah Sala of Rocky Hill, and Lisa Sarra of Niceville, FL., his son David DeGiorgi of Hull, MA., his sister Lillian Martin of New Britain, his grandchildren Amanda DeGiorgi of Cambridge, MA., Erik DeGiorgi of Sumerville, MA., Kimberly Sarra of Niceville, FL. and Nicolas Sarra IV of Renton, WA. A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday (February 24, 2018) at 11:30am DIRECTLY at St. Paulís Church. Burial in St. Bridgetís Church Cemetery, Moodus, will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. A reception will follow the Mass at the family home at 201 Oxyoke Drive, Kensington. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paulís Church, 467 Alling Street, Kensington, CT 06037.
